"City Artists in Response to Nature"


CAIRN

"City Artists in Response to Nature", is a group of artists from New York City who explore their individuality and the collective human need to connect with the natural world in a contemporary and vital way. CAIRN believes that we need art forms that examine and define our interdependent involvement with nature and heal the separation that most people feel today. Founded in 1996, the idea for the CAIRN group came from a need to fill a vacuum and draw attention to art as well as artists that explore in-depth our relationship with nature in an urban environment.
ECOARTNET has invited seven artists, working in various media, to share with our web-visitors their second CAIRN Group Show in New York last year and whose theme was the interface between the natural and man-made worlds:

"Urban Nature" was on display at the Anthony Giordano Gallery on the Dowling College campus in Oakdale, New York from July 12 to September 17, 2000 (a satellite of the ISLIP ART MUSEUM)
